Lisbon, 7th International “Dançar o que é nosso” Meeting – a month of workshops and seminars about interculturalism and the performing arts, led by anthropologist André Lepecki with guest choreographers and dance teachers.
Fifty-four artists bring their culture, bodies and movements from Indonesia, Burkina Faso, Portugal, Mozambique, South Africa, Great Britain, Brazil, Belgium… Through performance practices, they question the crystallisation of cultures and the dead-end of non-communication. They try to incorporate different movement experiences. I accompany them, ask myself questions, film and look for images that are theirs.

Mission statement
As a documentary filmmaker and visual artist, I develop my work mainly around the themes of nomadism, migration and urban space, on the one hand, and the relationship between film, dance and contemporary art, on the other. In this documentary I contemplate links between the performing arts and practices of interculturalism, looking for ways of passing on significant experiences in this context and, above all, asking myself: can art think and rethink society through its creative practices? Can these practices lead to a deeper understanding of reality? (L.F.)
