CCM watch point 7– The fear machine
installation site specific by Luciana Fina and Moritz Elbert

2 monitors, CCTV camera, DVD

"All individual dignity and differentiation dissolve in the image of a threatening and indistinct crowd, an intolerable swarm of dangerous insects. The perception of a disorder that threatens to swallow us all, together with our future. […]
It would be enough to throw out of our borders those bothersome Others in order to retrieve a condition of order and happiness.
Thus prays the principle that guides and regulates the virtual and symbolic narrative of fear according to the simplifying ones."
(Roberto Escobar, La Paura del Laico, 2010)

CCM CENTRO COMERCIAL DA MOURARIA
installation by Luciana Fina and Moritz Elbert
mixed media | 4DVDs, photography (series of 12 postals | mural composition)

The Mouraria Shopping Centre, right in the heart of the Lisbon city centre, has shops selling products from Africa, Asia and Latin America, and is an integral part of the daily life of the many communities living in the city. Walking around the CCM calls to mind the traffic density of markets and their Daedalian articulation, the feeling of living in the market place, the utopic circulation of migrations.
